This project demonstrates Pilgrims' ability to deliver
training courses for business executives in international
and multinational negotiation and business skills.
Business Skills and Business English Training
for Mitsubishi Electric Corporation Executives.
Introduction
Mitsubishi Electric Corporation is an important part of
the Mitsubishi group of companies. Mitsubishi Electric
employs more than 110,000 people globally and has an annual
turnover of more than $30 billion. The Human Resource
Department is based at the world-wide head office in Tokyo.
Within the HR Department is a special office dedicated
to identifying and training future senior managers and
board directors. As part of their overall development,
these young high-flyers attend the very best intensive
English language and business training course to be found.
The training requires participants to improve business
English skills, develop international and multinational
negotiation skills and acquire knowledge of international
commercial practice. Mitsubishi chose Pilgrims to deliver
these training courses.

Execution
Pilgrims project managed, designed and delivered the required
courses in association with the University of Kent's Canterbury
Business School. The English language and communication

A number of professional visits were arranged including
the Bank of England, Lloyds, The London Stock Exchange
and the London International Financial Futures Exchange.
Pilgrims employs over 50 full-time staff and over the
6-week period of the course a number of trainers were
involved. Key facilitators for this course included:
Kara McKeown has a Master's Degree in
TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) and 10 years'
experience teaching Business English in Europe and the
Middle East. Kara has been associated with Pilgrims since
1984 and has held a full time management position since
1991.
Jim Gascoyne specialises in meeting the
communication needs of senior personnel in the fields
of general management, marketing and finance. Jim worked
for twenty years in international trade finance (Lloyds
Bank International) and in commercial software sales.
Rosemary Budd holds a PGCE in English.
In addition to regularly training international executives,
Rosemary trains business, professional and general English
teachers. She also teaches at Kent University and has
had three books published.
